Chilled and Shaking!

James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

I went outside for a walk, I did not realize it was so chilly out already! It was beautiful and sunny with a little breeze making it…chilly. I ran back in for a hoodie. Well, I should expect it, it is autumn after all. The trees are changing colors. The days are getting shorter, and my outdoor plants are turning to seed.

As I drive through certain areas I cannot help but marvel at the beauty all around us-if we just look at it. It is really nice to have the changing seasons, I think looking at the same scenery all year just would not be as inspiring.

I do love looking at God’s handiwork, and reading His Word to us. You see all this beauty does not come to us without some responsibility. God teaches us we are not free-loaders, we are productive people who care for our world. He is a God who does not change. Our seasons change, our circumstances change, but He does not change! Since He does not change, His expectations for us have not changed either. Let’s take a look at Psalm 15 and see what some His expectations are. I found 12 things God expects us to do and then He promises we will not be shaken. We call this season ‘Fall’ because the leaves fall from the trees when they are shaken by the wind. God promises we will NOT be shaken because He will keep us in His care, when we do the right thing! So, when you have find the 12 things we need to do so we are not shaken, please let me know what you found. Repetition is good for our memory, and our soul.

Psalm 15

A psalm of David.

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
    Who may live on your holy mountain?

The one whose walk is blameless,
    who does what is righteous,
    who speaks the truth from their heart;
whose tongue utters no slander,
    who does no wrong to a neighbor,
    and casts no slur on others;
who despises a vile person
    but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
    and does not change their mind;
who lends money to the poor without interest;
    who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

Whoever does these things
    will never be shaken.
