Got Plans?

Proverbs 19:21 2

1Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

Recently I have been hearing about a lot of plans.  Plans can be so exciting to think about!

Plans for parents to go to work, while their children go to school.  (Maybe not so exciting).  Plans to graduate and go to college, or get that dream job.

Plans for people to go on vacations, say, maybe to Disney? Or the beach? Or Jamaica?

Plans to get married, or start a new job, or go to a play or concert.  Maybe attend a sporting event, or, just go to church!

Well, pretty much all of our plans have been halted!  It’s amazing to think about, but in the not to distant past, we were making plans, going places, visiting people without a care in the world.

How did a teeny tiny something that cannot even be seen without a high-power microscope, get to be in control, of us?  This is a question we need to take some time to ponder.

Let’s go all the way back to Genesis 1.  God made everything, and He pronounced everything…good!  How did things turn so bad?  Well, if you have read Genesis you know where I’m going with this.  Since the beginning of Adam and Eve mankind have had their own will.  That’s where the problem comes in.  God gave us our own will.  He could have made us like the clones in the ‘Star Wars’ movies.  They just roll out of the assembly line by the thousands.  They are pre-programmed to-fight the Jedi!  These are certainly not the things that become your best friends.  These are the robots that do your work, like our Roomba vacuums or even our computers.  We would just be a people shaped machine.  No, God had a better plan.   His hearts desire was to make a creation in His own image.  One that could have a relationship with Him.  To do that of course, to make it so it would be a real desire from the heart, He had to make us with a will.

A will motivates us to do good, and bad, to love, and hate.  And, as we know, we can do bad without any help from anyone.  The heart of man is wicked, there is no way we, even ourselves, can know it.

So, here lies the dilemma, because we do have this propensity to be disobedient to God, it sure did not take much to sway the ‘power couple’ to do bad.  So, back to the verse.  The Lord’s purpose will prevail.  I have a thought about what God’s purpose is in allowing this virus to become a global pandemic, but I want to hear your ideas!  When I get back at least 10 responses, I will give you my thoughts!!   Put your thinking caps on.

I believe God’s purpose for all this is to remove all of the distractions of our daily life so we care focus on Him. Now He has our attention and can speak to us. When you stop and think about it……there really has been a lot of good that has come out of this “lock-down.” People are more germ conscious, public places are being disinfected more often, things are getting done around the house and we can now listen to God’s voice without earthly filters. It is definitely a growing process for us.

I believe that our society has abused almost everything GOD has given us. It produced greed, lying, stealing, corruption and the I do not need GOD. I can live without GOD syndrome. Anything goes. No respect for anyone or anything.
