King of the Mountain

I Timothy 1:17

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I Remember as a kid, well, when I was a kid, a long time ago, we played ‘King of the Mountain’. Part of my neighborhood was an old, unused coal mine! So, this leftover stuff called culm, just piled up until it made a good sized heap, about 6 feet tall. (see above). It may not have been a parent approved game because sometimes someone got knocked down, and sometimes got hurt!    For those unfamiliar with ‘coal country’, a culm dump was the small shards, powder and coal left behind when coal was extrapolated from the mine.

Several kids in the neighborhood would climb the mountain and claim to be ‘King of the mountain’, until a stronger or wiser kid came up from behind and knocked the King down.  It was a rough game, and often we were covered in soot and dirt from the culm, as well as small slashes from sharp shards.

Even when we read in history about King’s and Monarch’s, that seemed to be how they operated!  The King, or Queen with the strongest troops, the wisest planners, the most gold, became ‘King of the Mountain’, or country!

That’s just not how it is with our God! He is King of the Universe. He does not have to fight anyone for it, or even just claim it, like we tried to do. He just IS! In fact, when asked who he was, that is what He said; “I AM.” That was all He needed to say! Exodus 3:14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ This indicates that anything we need, God is!

Because;

 He is The One and Only wise God.

 He is The Creator of the Universe.

 He is The Rule maker,

He knows our past, present and future.

He loves us just the way we are.

He has the answer to our every question.

He will forgive our sins and heal our diseases.

He gives us peace that is beyond our comprehension, even in difficulties.

He leads and guides.

He promises to never leave us or forsake us.

This list could go on and on but just these 10 items give us a great start on who God is and what He has done, and continues to do.

Question;  How many more attributes of God can you find? Can you share the ones that mean a lot to you, with us?
