Psalm 73:26-28 (ESV
26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength[ a] of my heart and my portion forever. 27 For behold, those who are far from you shall perish;
It was just another normal day teaching in high school when I began to have heart burn and a striking pain down my left arm. I felt nauseous, clammy and faint. The aide in my classroom said I should go see the school nurse. When the nurse saw me she took my pressure and temperature and said I need to go to the hospital now! I refused an ambulance because it would upset the students. I was teaching 11th and 12th grade Learning Support students. I drove myself to the hospital much to the nurse’s anger.
Upon arriving at the hospital I fainted at the ER desk and they rushed me into the examination room. I heard the nurse say, “we loosing him,” to which the doctor said, “give him another shot.” They did this 3 times. All the while I was floating in the ceiling looking at the doctor and nurse frantically working on me. I felt WONDERFUL! I believe my body was getting ready to take flight to heaven! As I began floating back to my bed the pain returned. More tests that day revealed that I had at least 2 blockages in the arteries around my heart. I was scheduled for a heart catheterization to “blow –out” the blockages. If that did not work I would have open heart surgery, while still on the table!
But God! My pastor and elders came to the hospital early the next morning and prayed over me before I went in for the procedure. They prayed that the blockages would be gone. Well, can you guess what the doctor found? Absolutely nothing! No blockages what so ever! The prayers of the morning were answered. In fact, the doctor said that he has never seen such large arteries! “These can never block,” he exclaimed.
God had not only healed my blockages but He made sure they could never block again. That’s the kind of God I serve!
