Psalm 150 NIV
Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
After our five-and-a-half-hour trip to the Ocean City Maryland, husband and I were beat! It was 87 degrees when we left PA, the SUV was packed, the plans were made, and we had great expectations of a few day wonderful getaway, it was 98 degrees here. Between the road, the heat, the traffic and even the other drivers, they took their toll! We were tired, sore and cranky. (The cranky was on the inside, we did not let that explode on each other, or others)
We arrived to this unfamiliar place, and now the luggage had to go up five flights (with an elevator, of course.) Hubby managed that in a wobbly rebellious cart. I started sanitizing, and nesting. Unpacking and putting our things in convenient places. I tried to make this a comfortable home away from home.
We heated up our dinner, ate, and cleaned up after the dinner we brought, then we went to the ‘main event’. The ocean! Our first glimpse of the ocean brought tears to my eyes. The roar of each wave as it pounded on the sand just overfilled my senses. The blue-grey streaks indicating the water was waving at the latte colored beach.
We walked along the shoreline, but after a few feet I stopped. My husband asked, “what’s wrong, why are you stopping?” I looked out at that magnificent body of water and remembered; Psalm 150: Praise the Lord! “I am undone,” was my reply, “This makes it all worth it.”
That was all I wanted to do…praise! I wanted to yell out my praise to my God, the God who not only created the sea and everything in it, but He created me to be able to enjoy it.
I might have been imagining it but I looked up and I thought I saw God smile at me as I praised Him and thanked Him for His indescribable creation!
It is not often that we are just swept away by the wonder of God’s creation but the first glimpse at the ocean always does it for me.
“O Lord, my words cannot even come close to describing your magnificent creation. You know how my heart is filled to overflowing with awe and admiration for your creativity. Please accept my praise as an act of worship to You!”
