Give, and You Will Get It Back…Plus More!

Luke 6:38

Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete with it shall be measured to you again.

You can probably see this is going to be a little different blog than my usual. Just when you might think you have me figured me out…I change!

Well, here’s why that happened. As we are all well aware, people now have great financial needs. Our government is attempting to ease some of those needs, but they still exist in this inflated economy. Many other businesses are trying their best to make offers that will help the consumer, and the business both. Really great benefits, Yet still there is often a gap between the bottom line on the bills, and the bottom line in the checkbook.

One truth I have experienced over and over again in my Christian walk; I cannot out give God! What exactly does that mean? Well, In Malachi 3:8 we are admonished; ⁸

“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings”. We are told to bring all of the tithe into the storehouse. I am not talking about that. You see, that is a type of bill that needs to be paid every time we get paid. God told us, way back in the beginning that 10% of everything goes to Him. Now, since it ALL already belongs to Him, we are just giving Him back what He is allowing us to use. Try wrapping you head around that for a minute.

Ninety percent is ours to be a good steward with. Wow, when I put it that way, it sounds like quite a bit! It is! So, immediately, without doing any math with the bills and your paycheck, take the 10% off the GROSS, (before Uncle Sam takes his share), and give it to the church you attend. Not a TV church, your local church where they have mortgage, electricity, cleaning and maintenance people, toilet paper, and of course, your Pastor. Now with your 90%, think about how much you have been blessed. Are you breathing on your own? Do you have clean water? Are you covered with clothing? Can you go to the refrigerator or cupboard and find food? If you said yes, you have more than many many people in this world right now.

So, since God says His word is true, and He says give, it will be given back and running over, NOW is the time to test that theory that God planned. And He did say test it, in fact it is the only area we are told to test Him. I have actually tested this over and over and it never fails.

I know it will be difficult if you have not been a giver before, or in a long time. I also know from experience, God is faithful to His Word! Give. Just a reminder, if you have already received (and spent) your stimulus check, may I suggest that you give some of that check, you did not even expect, to a charity! The charity’s I have listed above are good places to start. They are all very well vetted, responsible, hard working and continue to find new ways they can use whatever resources they receive to help ease the suffering of others. These are the ones I support. I give to them in one way or another. I will give you their contact information, and suggest that you choose one, or more, and give something they need. Most, need money. Some need goods or your spare time. Whatever you choose, do it ‘cheerfully, God loves a cheerful giver’. Test God, see if you are blessed beyond what you gave!
