Presidential Pondering…

6All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Ever wonder what the President of the United States of America might be pondering? Well, you don’t have to wonder with our former President, he pretty much vocalizes his thoughts on twitter! Our current President, on the other hand….well, you know! Other Presidents did not have that luxury of social media, but, they did often write their thoughts down. This week we will celebrate the birthday’s of the two presidents in the photo on ‘President’s Day’. Let’s take a look at some of the things they pondered.

Would it surprise you that many of our Presidents often read and quoted scripture? I would like to take this opportunity to just look at some of the quotes our President’s and others made. Why do we want to know this? Well, in an age when we are told that we need ‘separation of church and state’ you will clearly see that our past notable and quotable people did not believe it meant to take any helpful Bible scripture out of our speech and guiding principles.

From our 18th President, U.S. Grant :

“Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet anchor of your liberties. Write it’s precepts in your hearts, and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this book are we indebted for all the progress made in true civilization, and to this we must look as our guide in the future. Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

From our 23rd President, Benjamin Harrison:

“If you take out of your statues, your constitution, your family life all that is taken from the Sacred Book, what would be left to bind society together?”

From our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln:

“In regard for this book I have this to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book.”

From the 7th President; Andrew Jackson:

“That book, sir, is the Rock on which our Republic rests.”

From our Founding President, George Washington:

“It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.”

And finally our former President, 45, Donald J. Trump:

We’re going to protect Christianity. We don’t have to be politically correct about it.

I for one, am encouraged by the fact that President Trump saw the value of involving Christianity in our nation. There is no other way to succeed. It remains to be seen what this President, 46 will do with Christianity and the Bible. What we have seen so far has not been very encouraging as he has embraced abortion, same-sex marriage, lies and gender confusion as normal life, without regard to his own Catholic roots!

In concluding this piece, this is just a small slice of the thoughts and quotes our Presidents have presented to the American people. Only God knows what is in the heart, but their clear intent was that God, the one and only Divine Creator of the Universe, holds the USA in His mighty hand. And He is not about to let it go!

Please feel free to tell me if you enjoyed this patriotic blog.
