Matthew 13:25-30
25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. 27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ 28 ” ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 ” ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’ “
This is such a beautiful time of year in my yard! The green lush vegetation is so beautiful and inspirational! I have a variety of colorful flowers that give us great enjoyment in their sight, their scent, and even the little working pollinator insects that share the pollen so we will have the same beauty next year!
Funny thing though, every day that I go out and look at this crop of beauty, I see weeds! Now, it is difficult for me to just yank out something in the dirt because I am not always sure it is really a weed. For example, I find that the pretty little yellow fluffy flowers are in my yard for me to enjoy! Yet, if I don’t pull them up before they turn into the gray seeds, that dandelion will blow all over my neighbors yards-and they won’t be happy with me!
But just think about it. That same soil that nourished my beautiful, roses, day lilies, lilac and even my lavender and mountain laurel bush, is the same soil that nourishes the weed! If those weeds are allowed to grow and prosper, they will choke off the life giving nourishment to my flowers! I had to identify them, then pull them up at the root! (Actually, my husband does this). One of the primary offenders came on the property when we bought it. It is a ‘mock strawberry’. As the name suggests, it looks like the vine of a strawberry, but don’t expect yummy fruit! It will give a virtually tasteless fruit. It gives off green foliage with tiny pickers and running vines that will grab at your ankles and trip you-if you are not careful! Ask me how I know!
I thought about this in light of our spiritual lives. Both FEAR and FAITH grow in the same soil in our hearts…uncertainty! The uncertain times that we are living in WILL grow something within us. What will it be? Faith or Fear? See, when our roots are in the soil of uncertainty we begin to wonder; will I have enough…money for gas, food, essentials. Health… to do my work, care for my family, serve the Lord? We can allow those thoughts to spread like that mock strawberry and begin to trip us up. Fear takes over our thoughts and rather than going to the Rock of our salvation, we go to any other entity that seems to have an answer. Not necessarily the right answer, but we have enough confidence in there answer to make us believe it is the right answer!
That can be a very risky! We have seen over and over again recently when we put our trust in entities that do not have the Lord’s values at heart, we can get burned!
Remember in the 60’s we were told that prayer in school violated the Constitution? LIE! But, since most of us did not know the actual wording of the constitution, government won that battle! Did believers in prayer even have a concern? Did we see a subtle shift in behavior in school? This was the beginning of the spiral downward in our morality as a nation as hippies and free love began to emerge…among with another scourge on the nation; abortion!
Remember the 70’s? I remember being appalled in high school when I heard about this murder of babies! I could not wrap my brain around it. It was still not legal until the year after I graduated. I protested any way I could. Still, we were told it would be safe, and rare! LIE! This was another violation of our Constitutional rights!
Just these two horrific events in American history set us on a path to indoctrinate our children with the ‘government’ agenda, and murder minority babies in greater numbers than white babies. We said after Nazi Germany that we would not allow it again, yet, here it is, just in a different form and we did not recognize it!
Still more are coming now in faster succession. One of our amendments allows us, as free people, to carry guns. Why? Because if the government became tyrannical we would at least be able to form a militia and defend ourselves. If our guns are taken away, we become defenseless against an armed government! For the very first time in my adult life, I am getting a firearm while I still have the legal right! I can see the possibility of tyranny in our futures!
Still our government continues to claim it knows better than we do for our own families. LIE! When we were hit with the man made pandemic, we were all forced into a 2 week quarantine lasting maybe 18 months. Instead of segregating the at risk population of elderly, we all were shut away from everything. Our children suffered in their education (win for government). Now government in our schools is allowing such outlandish events as ‘drag queens’, gender fluidity, (including litter boxes for kids identifying as cats!!!
Our businesses suffered in sales and production. Government had to step in to help, raising the national debt to impossible numbers to pay down. Once we got support and did not have to work for it, many just dropped out of society and continued to take from the government, instead of working to raise their self-esteem. Once the self-esteem wanes, depression, worthlessness, addictions, self-harm, harming others is not far away!
I don’t mean to make this sound like easy reasons for our decline to FEAR rather than FAITH. It is not an easy, nor an easy repair. I still believe we have hope in America that we will return to our roots. This is God’s promise to us, believers.
2 Chronicles 7:14NIV
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
We were shut away from our spiritual support of church! Do you see an underlying agenda here? Stay away from your house of worship, become more spiritually weak and reliant on somebody strong!
The government that gives you everything; free cash for no work, free college education, free cell phones, free housing (section 8), can take it all away! We find that so hard to believe because we have not ever seen it here in USA-till now! Store shelves bare, or close to it. Our most vulnerable population, babies, lack formula! Many must decide if they drive kids to school, or go to work as gas prices have skyrocketed.
Well, from the verse above, I conclude that it starts with believers! WE need to be the ones that get back to God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. We need to be the ones to humble ourselves and repent from our wicked ways. If that means we do hard things at times, well, we must!
All of us as Americans are growing in the same soil. WE choose if our roots go into FEAR or FAITH! WE must learn to recognize those weeds that will trip us up and keep us dependent, and pull them out by the root!
Are ya tracking with me? Please let me know!
Remember the 70’s?

Very well said, Donna. I choose faith over fear, becaise Jesus said fear not, and that’s good enough for me.
Donna
Me too! Ty Deb for the encouraging words!
