Handprints Everywhere!

Luke 6:38 38

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

“Go wash your hands good with soap!”  I told my grandson…again.  He touches everything, and has no thought about what he touched before, or what he will touch after.  I stopped to think about that for a minute.  We have faced the invisible enemy, bacteria! Therefore, we are really concerned about what our hands are touching.  Usually, we are leaving fingerprints on furniture, doorknobs, dishes, books, phones and so much more.  There is no escape from the number of places we leave a trace of our DNA, and our identity!

Think about this. If we have our identity in Christ, isn’t it time we leave our ‘heartprints’ with some of our DNA on others? I am sure your heart was touched when someone sent you a ‘thinking of you’ note.  I know mine has. Or, maybe you received an encouraging text, even an emoji. Maybe an unexpected check came to your mailbox at just the right time.

I would like to propose that we leave our identity in Christ on other people with a ‘heartprint’!  How?  Think about how phone call or text from someone? Do you know someone with small children, or an elderly person who would appreciate a meal left at their door?  Can you be a financial help to someone waiting for unemployment to kick in?  Ask the Holy Spirit how you may be able to ease the anxiety of someone in your sphere of influence.  Send someone a heartprint of God’s love.

I don’t say this without having done many of these myself.  So, here is what I know from the doing, you will ease your own anxiety when you reach out to others.  How so?  Our Lord gave us the instruction, and His words do not fail.  He said in His Word that he ‘measure’ we use to give, will be the ‘measure’ used to give back.  I have realized we cannot out give God.  No matter how large our measuring cup is, He uses a bigger one to give back His blessings to us!   Can we make it a priority during these days of isolation to reach out in a way that will be safe and encouraging for all?  After all, when we do something for others it is what makes our Heavenly Father happy.  When He is happy, there is no end to His blessings!

Question; Has the Holy Spirit been telling you to do something for someone?  Have you done it?  What’s holding you back?  Please tell me in reply what you have done.  It may motivate someone else!
