I Corinthians 2:9 NKJV

But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” NKJV: New King James Version

Yesterday, 9-11. A day that stands alone in our collective memories as a nation in shock! We all remember where we were when we heard the news and still feel the pain of the moment when our nation was rocked to the core by an evil force beyond our comprehension. Yesterday as I watched the ceremonies, heard the speeches and stories of some of the victims, I was moved to tears. We need these events to remind us we are a strong and resilient people. A people who put others first and will not bow to the enemies that lurk nearby.

Now it’s 9-12. Some of the realities of yesterday are sinking in. Our President is safe and we are assessing the damage at the 3 crash sites, and we will continue to do so-for months, even years. The target of the Shanksville, PA plane was the capitol. If it were not for the 40 martyrs on board that plane, sacrificing their lives, there is no telling what damage would have been done to the nation. Close to 3,000 of our people , in NYC, at the Pentagon, and that field in Pennsylvania, perished! What do we do now?

I was very proud of our elected officials on the next day. They stood on the capitol steps and sang the National Anthem. That one simple act of solidarity gave a boost to the American people in one of the most devastating times in our nation. People everywhere made very brave attempts to return to a degree of normal while the people directly affected were prayed for continuously. President Bush made a trip to ‘ground zero’ and assured the American people we would not be defeated by this violence.

It was a Wednesday, our church had a church service as usual, with a long time of prayer for the victims and recovery efforts. In fact, for several weeks churches everywhere were filled as the events of 9-11 brought an awareness to us of our human frailty.

This type of violence against a peaceful nation is not new. Many times throughout history we can read about nation rising against another nation and taking over the control of that nation. Many times in Biblical accounts the same events occurred as an evil nation tried to take over a weaker tribe. Many times they succeeded and the victor then ruled that country.

But we, here in the US, have been blessed not to have that type of violence and loss on our own soil for a very long time-until 9-11-2001. We in the USA have not felt the pain of this type of evil invasion in our modern history.

Sometimes we mere humans get lulled into a type of existence that does not reflect reality. We forget that we have had a life devoid of the pain that people in other nations experience. They may have poverty, sickness, bombings, invasions, famines, no fresh water. Even their freedom to worship as they please, or have more than one child, or decide their own future occupation is established by the government. And the list goes on. I believe very deeply that the event of 9-11 was an alarm for America. We heard it, but gradually we were lulled back into our peaceful existence. Now we are facing an internal alarm. Between the challenge of an unrelenting virus, and the violent protests, we are being warned yet again that there must be some changes in our behavior and belief system. God will not be mocked! He expressly says that the seeds we sow, will be the crop we reap. I am stunned by the thoughts of what faces this nation IF there is not a sincere return to God! Please pray sincerely for this nation and it’s people. Watch for a movement across America called ‘Return’ initiated by Johnathan Cahn. The kick off is in Washington D.C. on September 26th. Go to the website; “The ReturnWebsite.org” for more information. I believe Jonathan is a modern day prophet. Just like Biblical prophets he is calling for a repentance and return to God. Pray that this divinely inspired movement, as well as others, will bring the harvest in, just like Jonah of old, let us turn from our wicked ways, before…
