JUST ASK ME!

Jeremiah 33:3

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Wondering… pondering… thinking… figuring…  These are all favorite pastimes we share on those days when our work is caught up, the fall leaves blowing in the wind and we are feeling, well, lazy. But, what about those days when we really need to know something, and we need to know it now! The urgency is weighing down on you like a heavy blanket. How will I pay for this car repair? Where should I go to college? Whom should I marry? Should I marry at all? Where did I leave my phone? You may laugh at that last one, but, sometimes the simple things cause us the most stress.

I have today’s scripture verse memorized for times like these. You can count on God, through the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit, to give you the answer through any number of ways.

I implore you to look back at your life and see if there were times you did not know what way to turn. Did you send up a prayer for help and direction in your situation? I know I did!

Over the years, I have experienced many situations where I have ‘called out to God’ to tell me where to find things I could not find. Mostly my phone or glasses! But I have also asked, “How can I pay this bill?” That particular question was asked when my husband was ‘on strike’ with no pay, and I was laid off from my job. We were doing okay meeting most of our obligations, but, it finally became apparent that our bills were just too big for our small resources.

We cried out to God for supernatural help, reciting this verse over and over. It wasn’t long before my husband received a call from a high school, he was scheduled to do a seminar for in six months. They asked if they could pay him now, as it was better for their bookkeeping system. Of course, he said yes! That covered a little less than half of the bills. The next day I watched my friends’ three children while she went on a day trip. It was a favor, not a business arrangement. Yet, when her husband returned and took over… he gave me a very generous check! Now we were even closer to meeting our obligations.

We went to church on Wednesday evening. A fairly new congregant poked my husband in the back and handed him an envelope. The man later told us that he received an unexpected check from his workplace. He called them and said, “you don’t owe me any money, what’s the check for?” After they researched it, they realized it was a mistake. But… the company did not want it back because it would mess up their books! This generous man said “I could not keep it. It was not meant for me.” When we got home my husband opened the envelope. In it was a check for the exact amount we still needed to pay the rest of our bills!

Call on Him – He always answers, never puts you on hold, and you never get a busy signal. For me, it is a comfort to know I can call on Him and wait for the answer, in His time! He has done it before, and He will do it again!

Question: When you were at the end of yourself, how did God answer you? Feel free to share your experience in the Reply Box below.
