Isaiah 43:19
Behold I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
I really enjoy getting a package from UPS! Don’t you? I mean, even if I know what is in the box, and I am expecting the box, I still have fun opening it and anticipating using the product I have been waiting for. There was a young man at church the other day that felt the same way. I got a box in the mail with some material that I ordered. I was carrying the box with me and when he saw the box, he started asking me, “what’s in the box? what’s in the box?” I did not even know this young guy, but I had some fun with him! I said, “Oh, I don’t know! Something fun, something exciting, something delicious, I am sure!” Once I opened the box, he was disappointed…books! He dejectedly walked away.
Now that is never the case when I see the UPS truck. Even when I see it at someone else’s door, I get excited because I remember that God is in the UPS business! No, He does not deliver packages to our doors. What He delivers is way better than that!
Remember God says He will UPHOLD you. Are you having a bad day? Lost a job? Got a bill you can’t pay? Not physically well? God says over and over in the Word that in your time of trouble, He will Uphold you!
Isaiah 41:10
‘Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
Remember God also says He will PRESERVE you! This is especially nice as we get older, we need help preserving our body parts as they age! But seriously, God preserves us so we can be a blessing to someone else experiencing the same thing. He also preserves us for our benefit. To preserve something is to maintain something in its original state. When we are preserved our walk with the Lord is as fresh and vibrant as our first exciting day with Him! As a result, our testimony is preserved, our lifestyle is preserved and even our legacy is preserved.
Psalm 12:7
You shall keep them, Oh Lord. Tou shall preserve them from this generation forever.
Remember God says He will SUSTAIN us. Over the years we can count on the God of the Universe to be directly involved with our lives. He is our ‘scaffold’ or support system. Consider construction workers or window washers when they are high up working on a project. They have a ‘temporary’ support system built around them while they work. We have a permanent support system! He bears the weight of our situation because He is the only one who has the power to do something about it.
Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden upon the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
I hope you begin getting excited every time you see the UPS truck in your neighborhood, and remember, God UPHOLDS, PRESERVES AND SUSTAINS so we will never walk away disappointed!
