Who Am I in Christ?

Psalm 23

The Lord IS my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I have often been in a state of mind where I am just confused about who I am, and where I’m going. Maybe I am between jobs, or at a job I don’t like, and I say; “Who am I and what am I supposed to be doing on this earth? Maybe you have felt that way yourself sometimes. But just take a look at the photo above.

These are two brothers walking on a path they are not familiar with, going to a place they have never been. Yet, they are not concerned or confused. Why? Because their big strong Daddy is walking right behind them! It should be no different with us when we know Jesus as our Savior. Our ‘big strong Daddy’ with every answer to all our questions, walks right beside us.

Here are some words from The Word that may give us some prospective. Dwell on these verses and you will find your mood improve, your prospective change, and your enthusiasm for life return. Sound like a lot from just ‘words’? Well, these words are not just words, God said; ‘in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God’. John 1:1 There is Power in The Word of God, because the Word IS God.

I am blessed. Galatians 3:9 So then those who are people of faith [whether Jew or Gentile] are blessed and favored by God [and declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing with Him] along with Abraham, the believer.

I am more than a conqueror. Romans 8:37 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].

I am complete in Him. Colossians 2:10 And in Him you have been made complete [achieving spiritual stature through Christ], and He is the head over all rule and authority [of every angelic and earthly power].

Free from condemnation. Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior].

I am His faithful follower. Ephesians 5:1 Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father];

Make it your new normal to read and marinate in these words of God. I can tell you truely, you will not remain the same, you will be ‘new and improved’.

Let me ask you, once you have tried this reading experiment for a few days, what changes have you seen in your mood? behavior? response to stress? Let me know!
