2 Chronicles 7:14-20 NKJV
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.
What is it going to take to stop this corona monster from roaring across our nation…and the world? Everyday new ‘solutions’ are espoused on the media. Wash hands, wear gloves, use hand sanitizer, isolate…on and on it goes! Take Vitamin C, drink hot liquids, buy this item or that! We are in an information crisis. Don’t be in crowds of more than ten, don’t get within 6 feet of one another. My head is hurting! No, not from the virus, from all this information.
What’s the truth? How do we find truth? What news source or media outlet or Dr or specialist has the truth that we need and we can trust? None, that’s right, none are giving the answer that will cure this land. We need to hear from the Great Physician with the truth about how to combat this trick from hell!
Only One Great Physician has the truth. Only One has already given us the truth, and told us; ‘I am the way, the truth and the life’. Folks, this is not fake news! He is the real deal. Please hear His solution.
Let’s break this passage down, there is a lot of meat in it and we need to digest it well!
‘If my people who are called by my name’ There are two elements here that need consideration. First, a general call to ‘my people’. Since God created all of us, we are technically all His, right? Then He narrows His scope of people to only the ones called by His name…Christians. That hits the nail right on our heads. Now that He has our attention, He continues…
‘Humble themselves’ What? In all this I need to be humble? YES! Humble is reducing ourselves to increase Him. It is recognizing that we cannot do it on our own. We as Americans can be so prideful. We have all we need, we don’t need to rely on anyone. Ever. I think that God is trying to show us that we are not capable of doing it on our own. The best and brightest minds in the world are working on a solution, a cure for this virus. None has been found . We need to humble ourselves, cry out to God for the answer. Remember George Washington Carver and the lowly peanut? He asked God why He made the little peanut. It seemed useless. Well, God gave him an answer and now we have over 300 uses for that little legume, many we still use today!
Then He says; pray and seek my face. We know prayer is a conversation with God. It is a two-way communication, therefore, we must often be quiet and listen. Jeremiah 33:3 says th ask God for things we have no other way of knowing. Certainly this corona virus has us baffled! We seem to often be grasping at bubbles in the wind. The people who are used to having the answers just cannot fathom the fact that they don’t have the answer. Seek God. Wait in His presence. He will speak to you, if you are listening.
But wait! He already says what we need to do to get the answer to corona! REPENT…turn from our wicked ways! What do you think God considers wicked? Well, I started with the 10 Commandments in another post. Let’s look deeper. The abortions in this country have exceeded the amount of holocaust victims murdered at he hands of maniacal misguided people. How about abortion? Legal murder of an innocent life. How about homosexual marriages that became legal in the US under the last administration. Did any of us read the account of Sodom and Gomorrah? God is the same yesterday, today and forever. I am sure He is still not pleased with that acceptance of sin. What about sex trafficking, drugs and alcohol. Oh, but wait, these are all the sins of those who are not called Christians. How about these; gossip, lies, working ‘under the table’ to cheat the government of tax money, living together without marriage, pornography, gambling away family money, skipping church…seeing your sin there yet? The Bible tells us we ALL have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. That is why we need to keep a short account with God. Ask forgiveness daily.
Back to the cure for corona…once we turn from our sins, ask for forgiveness from a Holy and righteous God, He hears us, and He heals our land! HE HEALS OUR LAND! So many times before in history a plague began suddenly, and stopped suddenly. I believe this is why. People finally caught the word…REPENT, and when they did…He did. And, He will do it again!
So I ask you…How badly do you want the corona virus gone? Enough to spend time in repentance? If not, maybe you don’t want it badly enough! More tomorrow on using our weapons for war.
