That’s Debatable!

Hebrews 4:12 12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Well, today is the first debate, face to face between two presidential candidates, President Trump and former Vice President Biden. The media is all over this in their coverage, and for the most part the unbiased media is very partisan! We know there are always three sides to any story or topic or subject. The right side, the left side…and the TRUTH!

I just want the truth! In this world where anything goes, wrong is now right and there does not seem to be any taboo’s about anything, how do we know where to go for the right answer? Where do we find truth? What is Truth anyway? There is only one place, go to the Creator of the Universe and everything in it. He has the answers, they are set in stone and will not change, and they are NOT up for debate! His opinion is always for us and not against us. It has stood the test of time and adversity, yet it is still the law we run to for our answers in life. It is also the law this nation was founded on and has stood on, quite successfully, for 244 years. Not a shabby record. Yet, some want to debate the success of those laws. Too confining, to restrictive, too God centered.

I have thought about this at great length and I wonder why anyone would choose to live under any other law? In His law is the answer to every question we could have in our lives. Most of the answers are right in the Ten Commandments! His law is the law of a loving parent who wants what is best for their children. I have wondered if we really appreciate living in the times we are right now, in this country. During Biblical times there were no modern conveniences so God passed down a plethora of dietary and sanitation rules to help keep the massive amount of Hebrew people healthy. How would you know how to take care of people with rashes or infections unless you read Leviticus. God cared for them when they had no way of knowing what to do. He is still doing that for us today!

Let’s take a quick look at some of the laws that seem to be up for debate right now.

Remember as a child you would never talk about your parents, the ones who gave you life in a derogatory way? You know there would be consequences you did not want to face if you did. So, why do people think today that they can disparage and disrespect our Heavenly Father and suffer no consequences? The filth that comes out of the mouth and then into media and on to young years is unconscionable! Consequences; highest drug abuse, unwanted pregnancy and suicide. Not a good outcome.

Remember Sunday years ago? Sports, no way! Stores-not open. Movies, bars, restaurants all were closed so the day could be spent the way God told us to spend it. Worship and rest. Go to church, spend time with family and take a nap! God knew we needed a day to re-charge our battery. Consequences; even church goers stay away from church when the coach says the game is on Sunday! As a result, believers are weak, ineffective and backsliden.

I graduated in 1972 from high-school. That was the last year we did not kill our babies in their Mom’s womb. I believe that was a turning point for this nation. God said ‘thou shall not kill.’ I believe He meant it. The amount of babies murdered since than is over 60 million, exceeding the Jews in the holocaust by 10 %! Consequences; many men and women who have experienced an abortion still suffer mental anguish because of it.

We heard more about Sharia law in the last administration, but it has crept into areas of the USA where it has not been curbed. That law system allows men to have 4 wives. We do not follow that law, we follow God’s law; one man, one woman for life. When we do not follow that law the consequences in a family can be unbearable. Remember, God wants what is best for us. Consequences; women have no identity of their own and can be abused by their husbands.

Speaking of wives, God made men and women to marry and carry on life together. This cannot happen with two men or two women. It cannot happen if a surgery changes the anatomy of a male or female. Therefore the God breathed purpose for genders is destroyed. Consequences; confusion, suicide.

Because God chose the Hebrew/Jewish/Israeli nation for Jesus to be born into, they are His chosen people. That’s understandable, we favor our own family over others. Therefore when God tells us to have favor on Israel, we should listen. Corporately, as a nation, favor with Israel will bring favor on the US. God’s consequences will be severe on this one as He stated in Genesis 12:3 3I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” I for one do not want God’s curses on me.

If you check out what each candidate has stood for over the last few years, you will see a clear choice to stay on the path to blessings in the US!

Back to the debate. There will be exaggerations, untruths, some truths and a lot of fallacious innuendos and slander. Our job is to ferret the truth out of the fiction, then see how each man aligns with what God says on the topic. Next decide who aligns more with God, then…GO TO THE POLLS AND VOTE! Some things are just not debatable!
