Test Positive!

Philippians 1:6 NIV –

. being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

I am finding it hard to believe that after all the mask wearing, hand washing, sanitizing everything, distancing etc. that we are still at the mercy of covid 19!! I keep hearing more and more people from the area getting symptoms, some get tested, some just make an assumption. Since it is right here at the holiday season, it is especially injurious to families who wait till closer to Christmas to get their gifts. I was out last week and the traffic was already crazy, and, things were already gone from the shelves! But that is not our biggest problem!

Maybe some clarification about this virus is needed! I received my monthly “Imprimis” magazine today in the mail. Imprimis is a publication from ‘Hillsdale College’ in Hillsdale, MI. I have permission to reprint the whole, or in part as long as this line is included; “Reprinted by permission from Imprimis, a publication of Hillsdale College.”

Just a little background on Hillsdale College is a school that offers free courses on many subjects. Check it out at HILLSDALE.EDU.

The front page article is; ” A Sensible and Compassionate Anti-Covid Strategy.” Of course, it attracted my attention since I planned to write about covid in my blog today. The man who wrote the article is Jay Bhattacharya, Professor of Medicine at Stanford University with a M.D. and a PhD in economics. The man has some education backing up what he says!

He makes four points that I would like to reiterate her. They make sense to me, and give me some clarity about where I can be compliant, and where I should push back at the protocols.

  1. The Covid-19 fatality Rate. If you only get your information from the news, it can be misleading. There is a lot of fear and confusion because we don’t have an understanding between ‘cases’ and ‘infections’. I cannot say that I completely understand the difference myself, even after reading the article. What I can say is that the way they determined the percent for the fatality rate was skewed so it appeared that many more people who had covid-died from covid. In reality the rate is about 0.2 or 0.3 percent. When the number of people who have actually been infected with the disease rather than ‘cases’ are used in the equation the number of fatalities drops. Of course, we want to prevent every infection from becoming a death. Many people who have been infected by covid have very mild symptoms, or none at all. The only way to get an accurate fatality rate is to test everyone to see if we have had it. Of course, that would be next to impossible, but it does give us something to think about. My husband and I each had a ‘cold’ in early February. It was a different than usual cold and it was before the covid frenzy, so we did not think much of it. Now we wonder…was it covid? Testing to see if we have the anti-bodies is the only way to know. With that thought in mind you can see that the fatality rate would drop significantly.
  2. Who Is at Risk? We know that this virus is not equally dangerous for everybody. In the elderly, people 70 and up, the mortality rate is greater than it is in children. I, like most of us am happy for that. I hate to see our children sick with any illness. This huge difference in the response of people of different ages is the primary reason why we should not use the ‘cookie’-cutter’ mentality in our protocols for all ages.
  3. Deadliness of the Lockdowns. The widespread lockdowns in our country are unprecedented! They have never been uses before as a method for disease control. These lockdowns were initially used to prevent the overload of our hospital system. It was supposed to be for a limited time until medical personnel could catch up to the demand. It never happened! There was not a time or place where the hospitals were not able to keep up with the infection demand. Yet, the lockdowns continue for no reason. These lockdowns have had a very disastrous effect on our population. In the last 20 years we have lifted one BILLION people out of poverty. This year we are reversing that progress as an estimated 130 million people will starve due to the effects of the lockdowns. Children are not being vaccinated for diseases that are more deadly to children than covid. What are we doing? Mental health problems are rising as people are stuck inside with no socialization. Young adults are considering suicide. We are not meant be be alone. In effect we are asking these young people to bear the burden of controlling a disease from which they face little to no risk.
  4. Where to Go From Here? Please take some tome to go online to; www.gbdeclaratio.org. Jay, in concert with two other epidemiologists wrote the ‘Great Barrington Declaration’ that outlines a common sense, do no harm policy for a response to covid. You can read it, and sign it there. I hope this gives us all a better focus on this plague for our time.

I would like to leave you with some positive thoughts to dwell on. I heard this from my husband, so it’s not original, but it is good advise.

MAKE SURE YOU TEST POSITIVE FOR FAITH

KEEP YOUR DISTANCE FROM DOUBT AND

ISOLATE FROM FEAR!

That, and prayer will be better than many other practices, since we have not seen much success with them!

Question; Are you exercising your FAITH muscle? Are you keeping your distance from DOUBT AND FEAR?
