Psalm 34:7(ESV)

7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.

Remember when you were a child and first learned about ‘Community Helpers’? I clearly remember my Kindergarten class of wide eyed five year olds as we listened to teacher tell us about these very special people in our neighborhoods. These were the people that we could trust and call on when we needed some type of help. They include; the firemen, policemen, ambulance workers and others, I am sure. The one that stuck with me was the police! They all wore a uniform so we could easily recognize them. They all had the ability to help us if were were ever in danger or lost. These were the people we could go to for help! “Policemen are our friends”. I still believe that, even with all the controversy about the police today, I still believe they are committed to keeping us safe, and we can go to them for help when we need it. And I have!

They are kind of like ‘angels’! God created Angels just a little higher than man, so, they are kind of like the ‘big brother who watches out for little sister. Many times in the Bible, and even many times in my own life, I have felt the presence of a ‘guardian angel’ that spared me from some kind of mishap. They are often hovering around us, very near us, watching to be sure we are okay, and if we need help, they jump in to protect and defend. At the most precious time in history, the birth of our savior, we hear of legions of angels singing and rejoicing over the birth of Jesus.

But, we can go all the way back to the conception and find angels there;

Luke 1:30-33 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

We can go to the confusion of the engaged Joseph, and find angels there;

Matthew 1:20-23

20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet.

When the infant was in danger from Herod, yup, the angels came and warned the Holy family to go another plan.

Matthew 2:13-14English Standard Version

The Flight to Egypt

13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.” 14 And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt

When Jesus became a man and was being tempted by Satan,

Mark 1:13

And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.

Many years later we see the angels telling the women who went to the tomb of Jesus, that He is alive;

Matthew 28:5-7

But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he[a] lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you”.

And, the greatest news, the event we wait expectantly for, THE event of our lives, the angels announced to the new believers;

Acts 1:11

11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

These created beings have awesome jobs, and responsibilities! Just with all the announcements about Jesus and protecting Jesus, they had a full time job! God had the top ranking angels on that assignment! We see from the scriptures that Jesus was cared for and looked after all of His earthly life, by angels. The chubby infant cherubs and the soft women angels must flee from our imaginations! Those angels could not do the job needed to keep Jesus safe. I hope you realize, and recognize when you have ‘angelic interventions.’ These ‘community helpers’ often go unnoticed, and unappreciated, but, I for one would not want to be without my earthly community helpers, or my Heavenly ones either! Just knowing these angels exist for our benefit brings a certain amount of peace to my life!

Question; How about you. Have you had any interaction with angelic beings? Tell me about it!
