John 8:12

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Matthew 4:16-17 NIV

the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

All the wait is over! Finally the birth pains that became so intense as Mary pushed for the last time, ended. That shock of hair on the baby King’s head was visible to Joseph! As that sinless royal face came into this atmosphere His cry pierced the black night. It was no different than any other newborn cry. Or was it? In reality, this infant illuminated that dark world. He IS the Light! He is still the light of this dark world!

Angels filled the black sky with light, as ‘this thing’ told to the shepherds changed the world forever. Once people heard about this new baby in Bethlehem, they clamored to see Him. He drew the attention as light always draws you in to it’s presence!

This child that was placed in a feeding trough for the barnyard animals was The Savior of the world? Yes! He came as one of us, just an ordinary baby, in an ordinary family. He was placed on some hay for the animals in that barn, He is the bread of life! Every element of His birth had a story behind it, if we looked for it.

Years ago I was a Social Services Coordinator with the job of inspecting apartments in low-income housing. In one home in particular I was looking for, well, cock-roaches! As I moved a piece of furniture and shone my light, the vermin scurried away from the light. Jesus came to reveal our sin with His sinless light. While He exposed the sin in our lives, it is our responsibility to repent of it and turn to Him.

As we celebrate the Birthday of Jesus today, let us be reminded, he is not only the Hope of the world, the Peace in the world, the Love for all in this world, He is also the Light of the world allowing us to see, believe and repent when our sin is exposed!

MATTHEW 5:16 KJV “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

I WISH FOR YOU A MERRY AND MEMORY FILLED CHRISTMAS!
