November 3rd seems like such a long time ago! I remember when I went to vote in my little borough of Olyphant. My husband and I were about the only people there. No lines. There were two officials, there should be 4, but, it’s a small area. The two officials missing were the watchers! In the past I have actually worked at the polls as a watcher. I never experienced any issues so I was not even sure it was a necessary post. Until this election!
Remember when we used to vote and found out that night who won? Wait, that just happened in the 2016 election. What happened that it it took 2 months before the election could be called? Well, I am not going to re-hash all that has happened, we want to look forward! My title says we are in mourning, but I remind you that ‘weeping may endure for a night but joy…
In an old Disney movie two animals who are very young, a fox and a hound, become friends. The fox is warned by the wise old owl that it is not a good idea, because the pup will grow up into a ‘hunter’ dog-and the hunter has a gun! This should be a warning, and an education for us. We as believers in Christ need to be wiser than our predators! Right now it appears that our ‘predators’ are on the hunt for our belief system, and our democracy. Our defense is education, boldness and Holy Spirit! We cannot be ignorant.
Ignorance isn’t stupidity; it is a lack of knowledge, or in this case, a lack of education. It is our responsibility to pursue that education and not just float ‘merrily down the stream’. Scripture tells us, Satan is the hunter and the hunter’s got a gun, so don’t be ignorant!
2 Corinthians 11:14-15 New International Version (NIV) And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.
We are faced with a new President. The office of the President of the United States of America deserves our respect. No violent outbursts or vandalism is acceptable, nor should it we tolerated. Yet, we are in a battle!
Yes, we are 75million Americans who feel like we are in mourning. We believe we have been cheated out of the President we voted for. I say, take this day, this inauguration day to mourn. Tomorrow, we must put it all behind us and begin the fight. The fight is not against flesh and blood remember, but it is against the principalities and powers of darkness that are positioned against us. Pray, get educated, and never, never, never give up, or give in! We are the American spirit!
In the movie the fox is warned; ‘it’s education or elimination.’ That is my warning to us all as well! Remember our mourning will turn into joy, as we do our part to return to our foundation.
