Colossians 1:16-17(NIV)

16 For in him all things were created:things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;all things have been created through him and for him.17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

I really could not wait to get there! For months we had been talking about this trip-the trip of a lifetime! Well it was for me anyway! We all were embarking a van leaving from Pennsylvania with our son and his family, my husband and myself. We drove across Pa across Ohio, into Indiana then south into Kentucky. It was a long trip but we saw other sights along the way, and just enjoyed each other and our conversation!

But then we saw it! THE Ark! No, really, we saw it pretty much just as Noah built it! I was speechless. Oh, I had seen a replica before, but nothing compared to the monumental size and scope of this primitive life saving vessel. Then we went inside. The displays and the education we received along the way were phenomenal! I could not ever do it justice in this limited space, you just need to go see it. (answersingenesis.org)

Not far away from the Ark in Northern Kentucky, is the ‘Creation Museum’. (www.CreationMuseum.org) This is the focus of my blog for today. The display’s, vignettes, explanation boards and live classes were sublime. My head was so full of knowledge I was trying to assimilate and categorize while trying to absorb as much as I could. One fascinating teaching was how the history of world can be condensed into the ‘seven C’s’. Let’s take a look at them, shall we?

CREATION In the book of Genesis, which means beginnings, God tells us He created everything in six days. Day one, He created light, and separated it from the dark. Imagine what it was like before that! Then He made great spaces and separated waters from above and below. Third day, He caused the waters under the expanse to come together, and dry ground appeared where there was no water. He told the land to bring forth plants and trees. Ummmm…I can smell those fresh greens! On the fourth day He made the celestial bodies. The stars, including the sun, the moon , and they served to mark seasons and years. Once the environment was good for life, He made the animals that roam the earth, those that live in water and those that fly in the air on the fifth day. But, on day six, He really showed off His creative genius, and created MAN!

Man was not good without someone to help him, so God created a woman. Together their purpose was to have a vital relationship with God, and each other, and to populate the earth and care for it. Dream life!

God was done creating, and pronounced it all very good! On the seventh day, He stopped creating. Everything that needed to exist for man to exist, He made, so He was done.

CORRUPTION Well it didn’t take very long before the ‘very good’ world God made, got messed up! Of course we really don’t know how long it was in reality as God does not measure time the way we do. These two lived in a perfect garden, had a perfect marriage, had all the food they wanted and just had to stay away from one tree! ONE tree! But, as human nature would display from then until now, THAT one was THE one they wanted. Well, we know what happened next, satan saw the interest in that tree and took advantage of their fallible human nature. The rest is our sinful history. Sickness, death, evil, greed, disobedience and even pain and weeds entered our perfect world through their disobedience.

CATASTROPHE God watched as His creation continued to get further and further away from Him. As the years went by mankind continued to find new ways to go against God and stray from a relationship with Him. There was one man, however, who had stayed close to God. Noah! Noah remained true to God and raised his three sons to live a Godly life also. Here is where we see a foreshadowing of Jesus our Savior. The people were so evil and so wicked they did not even want to listen to Noah so that they might be saved. I cannot help but think, as we are now waiting for the Second Coming of Jesus, our world is in the same or worse sin than it was back then! All we have done is invent new ways to be sinful and treacherous to each other while ignoring God! I believe He would be ready to destroy the earth again, if He did not promise NOT do do it again, (by flood at least.) So, Noah did what God told him to do, even though it had not rained and he never saw a boat, he prepared for a rainstorm with a large vessel made to sustain all living things. As a result, six people re-populated the earth after the flood water receded. ALL the people that were not in the ‘ark of safety’ drowned. This is an illustration for each of us that we still need to be in God’s ‘ark of safety’, namely, Jesus! Noah was so thankful to the Lord to be spared, and be off that ark, that he built an altar of thanks to God.

CONFUSION Life was going along pretty well for Noah and his descendants. Of course, when you get any group of people together there is bound to be a rebel or two! They were instructed by God to spread out and populate the earth. But, someone had the brilliant idea to build a tower so they could reach Heaven. They wanted to stay put and reach God. Their disobedience once again, caused God to intervene. He allowed confusion in their languages so they did not understand each other and therefore, could not continue to build the tower. As a result, they scattered, just like God told them to do originally.

Still, you may have this question; if all humans died except Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives, and since we are all descendants from them, than why do we look so different from each other? Well, God created Adam and Eve with the ability to produce children with a variety of different characteristics. This ability was passed on through Noah and his family.

As the people scattered, they took with them different amounts of genetic material that would give them differing characteristics. (height, pigment in hair-skin-eyes, facial features). But, remember, since we all came from Noah and his wife, a few thousand years ago, we are all related!

Come back tomorrow for the last of the 7 C’s ; Christ, Cross and Consummation! The BEST is yet to come!
