God is My Co-pilot

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Today the blog was written by a cousin through marriage, Randy Korb. Randy is married to my cousin, Sally. He needs our prayers right now as he still suffers from an injury that happened 3 years ago. He has not even been able to be back driving truck because of the extent of his injury! Here’s Randy, with a trucker’s prospective;

  • “God’s role in a truckers Life”
    I’ve been a trucker for close to 40 years. For the most part it was my dream job. Getting to see places normally I would never have had the chance to see such as New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco to name a few.  Exciting stuff yes, well not always, I was making good money, but after many years I was asking myself why I was working so hard with no reason other than making money.
    I had a conversation with my brother one day and he pointed out how lucky I was to have a purpose, and to serve God. I didn’t understand right away, but he pointed out that God put me in that truck to deliver diapers for babies, food to stores so people  don’t go hungry, books, Bibles, everything that our society needs. 1st Peter 4:10 states;
    “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God‘s grace in its various forms.”
    Well, I guess that was me with a 400 HP, 70’ tractor trailer doing God’s work. It was my purpose.
    Get this, they’re is even a trucking company called, ‘GOD (Guaranteed Overnight Delivery).” There’s a sign. I did not work there but I did work for a company called Kane, slogan; “Kane is able“ OK that will work.
    So I have a purpose to serve, well what to do with it. God showed me that also I had the opportunity to meet people, get to know them and hear their stories.
  • Matt had a grandson who had cancer. My heart broke when he talked about how God had it under control, he talked about the power of prayer. God filled my heart for that man. Oh, and by the way, Matt’s grandson recovered.
  • Mike another man I met on my delivery route was an alcoholic and had troubles at home. We became close and I looked forward to going to his company. I would share the gospel helping however I could, serving.
    There are more stories to tell but I guess my point is Matt 5:16 says it best.
    Let your light shine before one men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your friend which is in heaven. What is your purpose?
    See the world, but let God be your copilot.

Donna again! Well, I guess Randy has reminded us to ‘bloom for God where we are planted.’ He regularly reads ‘my daily firefly.’ Please give him a shout-out in the reply area, I know he will be glad to read it, so will I!

    I enjoyed reading this today and being reminded that God uses us wherever we are and we can serve him in whatever we are doing. 😀
