Can You Be Trusted?

Proverbs 3:5 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Can You Be Trusted? Recently I was looking at a coin I had pulled from my pocket. Written on it are the words, “In God We Trust.” Since the day our forefathers established these United States of America, they made no qualms about promoting the God for whom they seek to worship. In 1864 they even put their “trust in God” on their currency. He was the driving force that sustained them and gave them the wisdom to build a new nation…..under God! Unfortunately, that concept is under attack today. Some people seem determined to exclude God from all aspects of their life. A movement has been started to remove anything godly from every public building. No Ten Commandments, no pledge of allegiance, no prayers or godly references before games. Some want no part of church or any type of relationship with God, their creator. God, in any way, shape or form is under attack. God has been removed from the home, school and work. Any reminder of God, whether on money or on a sign above a building, is considered taboo. Trusting in God is simply not in vogue today. How sad for those who feel that way. For over 200 years this nation has trusted God. My question for you today is “Can God trust you?” Can He trust you to believe in the one who created you! Can He trust you to live for Him? Can He trust you to live according to His Word? He trusted us to such an extreme degree that He gave us His only son to die for our sins! He loves us more than we could ever love Him. All He asks is for us to trust and believe in Him. Proverbs 3 and verse 5 admonishes us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”Could it be that the reason things are not going well in your life may be because you simply do not trust God?” How can we expect Him to care for us if we do not trust Him? Let’s make a vow this next week to trust God for everything that is needed in our life. As we trust Him we will also be drawing near to Him. James 4:8 tells us to “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Do you see who makes the first move? It’s us. We draw to Him and He in return draws near to us. Trust Him.
