NEVER FORGET!

This heartfelt rendition of the twin towers was painted by our son Aaron right after 9-11. You can see the pain and anguish in each brush stroke!

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: God is the rock of my heart and my portion for ever. and my inheritance forever. my portion forever. but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. but God is the strength of my heart and my reward forever.

If you were old enough on 9-11-2001 you may feel like time stood still that day. Most of us remember where we were (teaching), how we were notified, (my principal came to the door), how you felt, (numb) maybe even what you were wearing (a green jumper). The gorgeous September day was lying to us about the horror taking place just 2 hours away from us. I did not know if I wanted to run to New York and help, or run as far away as possible. What we believed to be true all our lives was suddenly shaken by the most evil power in the world.

That was twenty years ago! Since then we have welcomed four beautiful grandchildren into the world. We have added another daughter-in-love to our family. We have continued to love God, go to work, pay our taxes and tithes, give to help others, and generally go on with our lives. What have we learned?

I really don’t want to sound pessimistic in my evaluation of that day, because I am not. I came to realize that even though all of hell rages against us while we live here on earth, God is still at the control center! Sometimes we may wonder about that, but it is truth! No one can take a life here, without His knowledge. No one can perpetrate that kind of evil, without Him watching and comforting.

On this twentieth anniversary of the most devastating event in our history, please focus your attention on the God who sees. The God who judges evil deeds. The God who repays as He alone can do.

As for me, I will take the day to pray, reflect on the stories of the hero’s of that day, and I will look for a good deed I can do to help someone through a rough patch. What will you do to remember the day?
