Jeremiah 29:13

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

PRAYER PROMPT FOR WEDNESDAY; PRAY FOR ALL GOVERNMENT WORKERS FROM THE TOP DOWN

My messenger notification was buzzing.  Since I just started down the path with this new (for me) technology, I was not sure what to expect.  To my happy surprise it was my third grandchild, seven-year-old, Grant.  He and his family were at the shore and he wanted to give me a ‘tour’ of the apartment they were in for the week.  We had a lovely chat, him showing me the rooms, me cooing over how beautiful the place is.  I had several more questions about their plans for the week, and how his ‘brudder’, Preston was enjoying the place.  Finally, he said we are going to the boardwalk to ride our bikes.  I want to get a fuffle cake’.  He still has no front teeth and his n’s come out f’s.  I chuckle, and agree the ‘fuffle’ cakes are awesome on the boards.   He calls me daily giving me the rundown on the activities the day before, and the plan for that day.  Just that call does a couple things for my day; first, of course, I get to communicate with one of my favorite people in the world.

Second, I know how to pray for them for safety and fun for that day.  It’s a great plan, and I think it keeps him occupied while his parents are getting all the other equipment ready for the day.  Win-Win!

Sometimes it would be nice if God had a little reminder buzzer for us.  It takes some discipline to get up early enough to have time to ‘catch up’ with God before we run to the busyness of our day.  But I do believe we get the same two benefits from our morning conversations with God, also known as ‘prayer time’, when we commit to making that time a priority.  First, we get to communicate with the one and only creator of the Universe!  That is mind boggling.  Yet He says He wants to talk with us as much as we want to talk with Him.  Remember He came and talked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the evening?

Second, He hears right from us what is on our mind.  What our plans are, and where we need His help or advise, or even intervention.  Of course, He knows these situations already, but, just like our earthly fathers, He likes to hear it from us, rather than just do what He does best; provide for His kid’s.  It’s a Win-Win situation.  When we make this conversation our priority in our day, we are telling God; “you are important to me.”  I really feel that way when Grant calls me.  He has friends he can call, even other things he could be doing, but he makes time to call and give me the news.  I am important to him.  Second, we have an assurance that we have an all powerful, all knowing God working on our behalf with our specific requests.  How can we go wrong?

So, I am asking you today, have you called your Heavenly Father and said; ‘Hi Dad!”  Make His day…and yours.
