ValenTIME’s Day is Coming!

John 13:34 34“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

You can always tell what season is coming soon by the ‘motivators’. Right now the stores are trying to motivate us to buy…red, and candy in heart shaped boxes, and heart shaped jewelry!  Valentine’s Day is very nearby!  While all those things are lovely to remind someone that we love them, is that really what love is?  Since we have just spent about 2 years in various states of restrictions and sickness, let’s take a look at love, real love!

Love is the group of people who got together and went to Nursing Homes, outside only, and sang Christmas Carols at their windows.  Love was demonstrated when volunteers delivered meals to those alone in their homes for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  When the worst cases of covid-19 ended up on ventilators, near death, Love, came into the room in scrubs, risking their own well-being so the patient would not be alone during this most critical time of life and death. Love goes out into the streets in vans, looking for the homeless one and bringing them to shelter in these frigid nights. Love prays for those in prison where right now no one can visit, even from behind glass. Love writes to prisoners and others that may not be able to get out. Just a note to tell them you are praying for them…then pray, goes a long way to brighten someone’s day.

Love is an action verb!  The first one who demonstrated that kind love for us, died on the cross to bridge the gap between us, and God the Father.  He carried our sin to the grave.  We are forgiven when we ask Him to take our sin and we walk over the Bridge, Jesus, to our Heavenly Father-and Forgiveness!

Candy and flowers are nice, but they will soon be gone.  The warm memory of someone spending time, the one thing they cannot buy more of, will last forever!  Happy ValenTIME’s  Day

By the way, I am posting this on the second of February so you have some time to think about how you may be able to spend some quality time with someone you love. As for me, I will be spending it with my Mom, my hubby, and our oldest son and his family over the course of a few days. I am sending a Valentine to my prison pen-pal and small notes to some folk who have lost a loved one this year. Precious, I know!

What’s your plan? Hey, let me know what ideas you have at donna_liples@yahoo.com.
