Let’s talk a little about these masks we have been wearing for over a year now! When the pandemic first began Dr. Faucci and the President were not in favor of them. Since they are both highly educated intelligent men, and they would appear to have the best interest of the American people at heart, we believed this to be congruent with the ‘science.’ Over time we saw that opinion change. Of course, wearing a mask was always the rule with medical personnel. They are, after all, being sprayed on and other fluids imposed on them with regularity. That’s common sense. But what about the average Joe and Joann? Why did the ‘experts’ change their opinion?
Could it have been they had more anecdotal evidence proving that masks were solving the pandemic problem?
Or, did they watch other nations who used masks and found that they were effective?
Maybe, they tried them out themselves and wore a mask near infected people and did not contract the virus?
If you chose any of the answers above, you would be…wrong!
I believe it was something we were very familiar with, in high school. Something very powerful and very convincing-peer pressure!
Remember when ‘all’ the kids were wearing—whatever you remember was the rage and you just had to have it? Well, it appears that might be the case with masks as well. It seems like it should make sense. Droplets leaving your nose and mouth as you speak, sneeze or cough, will not travel to someone else, but will remain contained in your own mask. The BIG problem with this ‘science’ is, it remains in your mask. You wear it, you breathe in moisture and bacteria from your own self that might have ended up in a tissue, and on to the trash. You are infecting you! In 2008 Dr. Faucci wrote this article about the 1918 pandemic. Interesting.
You know my husband is a Pastor. During this pandemic ha has been called upon to do several funerals. They were elderly people with extenuating circumstances, and still healthy, but came down with pneumonia after being in Nursing Homes, and mandatory mask wearing.
